Zediker fills county board seat

Naperville businessman John Zediker was sworn in Tuesday as a DuPage County Board member from District 5. The board voted 16-1 to approve Chairman Robert Schillerstrom's choice to fill the remaining two years of Michael Connelly's seat. Connelly is now a state representative. Fellow District 5 board member Tony Michelassi was the lone dissenting vote, saying Schillerstrom should have picked Gerry Cassioppi, who came in third in a three-man race for two seats on the board in November. Zediker is president of development powerhouse Moser Enterprises and once was employed in Naperville's transportation, engineering and development division.

'No' to strip club booze

Patrons of a West Chicago-area strip club will no longer be allowed to bring liquor inside with them. The DuPage County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to close a loophole that allows patrons of Diamonds Gentleman's Club at North Avenue and Powis Road to bring alcohol into the facility where the sale of liquor is prohibited. The new law bans alcohol from any business that features fully nude dancers. No one from the club spoke against the law, which goes into effect in mid-March.
