Dist. 129 to host Fine Arts Festival

West Aurora School District 129 invites the community to a Fine Arts Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at West Aurora High School, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora.

There will be more than 30 performances of bands, choirs, dancers and drama troupes, as well as hundreds of art exhibits from students at all grade levels throughout the district.

"The Fine Arts Festival is a way for our students and staff to thank the entire District 129 community for its continuing support of the fine arts," said Meg Papadolias, West High's Fine Arts Department chair.

At last year's festival, several thousand community members celebrated the creative talent of the art, drama and music students in kindergarten to 12th grade.

The following is a schedule of groups performing in each of the five venues inside the high school.

• Blue Field House: high school symphonic winds, wind ensemble, wind symphony and freshman bands.

• Cafeteria: high school jazz, jazz ensemble, jazz lab band and stage bands, Fearn fifth-grade dancers, Hill folk dancers, Jefferson choir and Freeman folk dancers.

• Auditorium Stage: high school Madrigals, Hope Wall students, Washington Choir and Drama Players, Jewel Choir, Herget Choir, Freeman Tappers, Freeman fifth-grade show choir, Greenman singers and middle school honor choir.

• Room B-140: Jewel, Herget and Jefferson drama performances.

• Library: Schneider singers, McCleery singers, Hall show choir, Smith school choir, Nicholson-Lincoln choir, Hill school choir and middle school small ensemble performances.

Visual art will be displayed in the east end of the Blue Field House, as well as throughout the festival hallways.
