Agent: CB Bodden won't return to Detroit Lions
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Leigh Bodden's agent says the Detroit Lions plan to cut the cornerback from the team's roster.
Alvin Keels tells The Detroit News the Lions have told Bodden they won't pay him an $8.6 million roster bonus, making him a free agent.
Bodden signed a four-year contract extension with the Lions last summer after being acquired from Cleveland. But the 27-year-old Duquesne product had a weak 2008 season and criticized the coaching staff after the Lions' 0-16 season.
Players officially can be released starting Monday. The team won't comment on transactions until then.
The Associated Press left a message seeking confirmation for Keels on Thursday.
