Bill goes beyond puppy mills

Do you like dogs? Would you like your grandchildren to be able to own a dog?

Chloe's bill, touted as cracking down on puppy mills, will affect all breeders. If dog breeders are shut down, there will be no more purebred or designer dogs.

Dogs are bred with unique characteristics for specific purposes. Newfoundlands rescue people in water. Bloodhounds track convicts and discover missing children. Golden retrievers help the blind and disabled. German shepherds protect police officers. All dogs, purebred or mutt, bring joy to people.

Some dogs can't do some jobs. A tiny Chihuahua could not lead the blind. A senior in an apartment could not afford the upkeep (financial and physical) of a great dane, but a small Shih-tzu might be the perfect companion. Police officers need larger dogs for protection, not a cute little beagle. Some children love dogs but have allergies which limit them to a hypoallergenic dog. These would not be possible if we shut down responsible breeders.

Chloe's bill has excessive requirements that will shut down responsible dog breeders. Tell your state representatives that Chloe's bill is no good for dog lovers. We want to target puppy mills and allow good dog breeders to continue.
