West Chicago cops investigating harassment

West Chicago police are searching for a man who drove up to a teenager Tuesday morning and asked her if she wanted a ride in his car.

The high school student was walking west on Brown Street, near Bishop Street, about 7 a.m. when a green car that was eastbound on Brown stopped, according to a police department report.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, rolled down his window and asked the teen if she wanted a ride to school. When the girl declined the offer, the green car continued eastbound on Brown.

A few minutes later, the car passed the teen as she was walking in the area of Blakely and Pomeroy streets. The driver didn't say anything to the teen the second time he passed her.

Police describe the driver as a male Hispanic in his early 40s with short, black hair. He appeared to have a medium build and was wearing a blue jacket.

He was driving a green, dirty, "beat-up," older model, two-door car, police said. The teen told police that it appeared there were several dark-colored plastic garbage bags on the rear seat of the car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the West Chicago Police Department at (630) 293-2222.
