Billboard expense a waste of money

It isn't very often something upsets me and I feel like writing a letter.

In today's Daily Herald page 3 tells us the Village of Mount Prospect is paying $27,000 to put up signs saying "We are #1 best place to raise children."

Why does our village think this expenditure is worth $27,000 - with the economy as bad as it is and my having to pay over $6,000 a year taxes to live here.

There are a lot of people who don't make $27,000 a year and have to support their families.

I have lived in Mount Prospect for 38 years and really like the services provided. My two children have gone to our local schools for 12 years each. I know how good it is to raise children here.

I'm sure the local real estate (agents) can tell new people who plan to live here how great a place this is.

Please justify this unusual expense. Does anyone else agree with me?
