Elburn Troop 7 celebrating 85 years

Elburn Boy Scout Troop 7 is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.

Former Eagle Scouts, scoutmasters, and committee chairs are invited to attend a special court of honor at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1 at the Kaneland High School cafeteria. The school is at Keslinger and Meredith roads in Maple Park.

"We have a court of honor, or awards dinner, twice a year, and this time it's a special celebration," said Bruce Aderman of Campton Hills. He is the troop's committee chair.

"Not many troops have been chartered for 85 years," Aderman added. "We're hoping to have a special speaker. It will be a great time to get together with other Scouts."

The event includes dinner and presentation of awards. Former troop members are invited to attend as guests.

Troop 7, which is home to about 40 Boy Scouts, meets at the Congregational Church on Route 47 at Shannon Street in Elburn.

Help the tooth fairy: The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and Sugar Grove dentist Donald Fee are partnering to bring dental supplies to the homeless at Hesed House in Aurora.

During February, dental care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss may be brought to the church at 176 Main St. in Sugar Grove and placed in the "tooth fairy bucket." Enter at the church's east door. When the church office is closed, the bin will be outside the east door.

Also, Fee will use monetary donations to purchase dental supplies at cost. The project sees to offset the effects of neglect of dental care among homeless residents.

For details, call the church at (630) 466-4501.
