Hawks' first 'Million Dollar Minute' winner feels lucky

The Blackhawks' first "Million Dollar Minute" winner is from, of all places, Southwest suburban Indian Head Park.

Season-ticket holder Cary Stolarczyk was introduced by the Hawks on Wednesday as the winner of promotion sponsored by the Illinois State Lottery.

Stolarczyk won the $1 million prize Monday when Hawks winger Martin Havlat scored a goal at exactly the 10-minute mark of the second period. Stolarczyk was sitting in the Section 326 location chosen randomly at the start of the game.

"This still hasn't sunk in," Stolarczyk said. "This doesn't happen to people. I just feel luckier than I deserve."

Before Wednesday's game against St. Louis at the United Center, Havlat presented Stolarczyk with the stick he used to score the goal.

"I'm very happy for him," Havlat said.

The promotion began Jan. 14 at home games. The seat location is selected randomly before the game, and there's a winner only if the Hawks score at the 10-minute mark of the second period.
