Blackhawks reassign Hjalmarsson to Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Hjalmarsson, 21, was held off the scoresheet in 14:57 of action in Chicago's 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues at the United Center last night. Overall, he has been held without a point in two contests with the Blackhawks this season. The Eksjo, Sweden, native has appeared in 35 games with Rockford this season, recording nine assists, 10 points and 41 penalty minutes.

The Blackhawks' fifth choice, 108th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Hjalmarsson made his National Hockey League debut last season, dishing out one assist in 13 games with Chicago. He also tallied 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 47 regular-season tilts and four assists in 12 playoff contests with Rockford.
