Tri-Cities area election filings

Petitions to be elected to local office continue to be filed as candidates ready for the April 7 election.

In Batavia Township, a Republican caucus has filed a slate of candidates. Democrats did not have a caucus.

The Republican candidates are Vicki Mitchell for supervisor (she's presently the township clerk); Susan Fricano for clerk; Helen Krol for assessor; incumbent Chris Long for highway commissioner; and Leigh Tracy, Andrew Kissamis, Craig Hockings and Brian Singer for trustee.

Incumbent Supervisor James Anderson, assessor Tammy Kavanaugh and trustees Ron Gilkerson and Howard Katz filed for election as independents. Newcomer John West filed for trustee, as did Luann Sievers for clerk. There are four trustee positions open.

Schools

• Batavia incumbents Joseph Purpura, Jack Hinterlong, Ron Link and Jayne Resek filed their petitions Tuesday. Four seats are available.

• In West Aurora District 129, incumbents Neal Ormond and Jonathan Wood have filed for re-election. There are three seats available.

• In Kaneland, four people have filed so far. Incumbents Elmer Grantley and Cheryl Crosby of Elburn, and newcomer Pedro Rivas of Sugar Grove, will have a lottery to determine ballot placement, since they all filed at the same time. The fourth candidate is incumbent Jonathan Berg of Elburn.

Towns

• David L. Anderson, who has filed, and Patricia Romke, who said she intends to file today are running for Elburn village president. Incumbent James Willey is not running for office in April.

Incumbent Jeffrey A. Humm and challengers Kenneth N. Anderson, Jr., Robert P. Swart and Jeffrey D. Walter are running for village trustee. There are three seats open.

• In Batavia, 2nd Ward Alderman Victor Dietz has filed his petitions. So far, he is unopposed.

Election petitions must be filed by the end of the day Jan. 26. The election is April 7.
