Grayslake man charged in fatal December heroin overdose
A Grayslake man is behind bars after being charged with selling heroin to a woman who overdosed the morning after Christmas, police officials said.
Priest Little, 34, of 360 Neville St. in Grayslake, was arrested Sunday night and charged with drug-induced homicide, Round Lake Beach Assistant Chief Rich Chiarello said Wednesday morning.
Chiarello said Little was picked up without incident at his home at about 8 p.m. Sunday and taken to Lake County jail.
He remains behind bars in lieu of $1 million bond, of which he must post 10 percent.
Officials were called to a Round Lake Beach home at about 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 26 for an unresponsive female who had possibly overdosed on drugs.
Officials transported 20-year-old Danielle Nicholas of Ingleside to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, said Lake County Coroner Richard Keller.
Keller said attempts to resuscitate Nicholas at the hospital were not successful, and she was pronounced dead at about 4 a.m.
Keller added an autopsy revealed the official cause of death was heroin intoxication.
During the police investigation, it was determined Little sold the drugs used in the overdose, Chiarello said. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Chiarello also confirmed that Little was wanted by the Lake County sheriff's office on contempt of court charges stemming from failure to pay child support.
