Tri-Cities area election filings

Filing of election petitions continued across the Tri-Cities region Tuesday for people seeking school, city, township, library and park district positions.

Candidates have until the close of business Monday to file their petition to run for office in the April 7 election.

In Campton Hills, three incumbent trustees filed to run for re-election but, so far, face no opposition. The candidates, Al Lenkaitis Jr., Mike Millette and John Strauss, are each seeking four-year terms on the village board. The trio were elected to one-year terms last spring in Campton Hills' first election since its controversial incorporation in May 2007. In nearby Campton Township, Trustee John Kupar filed the only petition to run for town supervisor. Longtime Supervisor Neal Anderson could not be reached for comment. Running for town board positions are incumbents Christian Boissonnas and Thomas Stutesman as well as former Campton Hills clerk Rebecca Lambe and newcomer Greg Van Zandt. Town Clerk Richard Johansen, Assessor Alan Rottmann and Highway Commissioner Sam Gallucci all filed for re-election and are so far unopposed.

In St. Charles School District 303, incumbents Jim Gaffney and Jim Chimienti filed, as did Steven Spurling and Corinne Pierog. There are five seats up for election. Spurling ran unsuccessfully in 2007.

Other candidates who filed for aldermanic seats Monday are incumbents Linnea Miller and James Volk, and newcomers Stephen E. Frank, Kyle P. Hohmann and Dawn Tenuta. No one has filed for clerk (Clerk Hannah Volk is stepping down).
