No one hurt in fire
No one was injured in a fire at a Lincolnshire warehouse Sunday afternoon. The 3:45 p.m. blaze at Kubota Engine America, 505 Schelter Road, caused more than $100,000 damage, authorities said. Firefighters from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, Long Grove, Buffalo Grove and Lake Zurich responded to the blaze. The building's sprinkler system contained the fire to a warehouse area until crews arrived and extinguished it, authorities said.
Fun program at library
You can celebrate Mardi Gras at the Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire on Feb. 23. Chef Michael Niksic will visit the library, 300 Olde Half Day Road, to teach a session on cooking New Orleans dishes. Impeachment update
Local Republican lawmakers will talk about the progress of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's impeachment on Thursday in Libertyville. The discussion, organized by the Lake County Young Republicans group, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Austin's, 481 Peterson Road. Organizers also will talk about the future of the GOP in Illinois. The event is open to the public.
Scholarship offer for Lake Villa Township students
The Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Chamber of Commerce is offering three $1,000 scholarships for 12th grade students who reside in Lake Villa Township. The Paul Yurs Memorial Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of grade point average and community involvement. Application forms can be obtained through the high school guidance offices. The Paul Yurs Scholarship honors the memory of Paul Yurs, one of the founding directors of the Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Chamber of Commerce.
