Inverness to tackle cell tower
Inverness residents are expected to turn out at a local plan commission meeting this evening amid concerns over a proposal to install an 80-feet-tell cell phone antenna tower. TMobile Central wants to place the tower on the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District property at 35 Ela Road. Some residents have already expressed reservations about the proposal, feeling the tower would be too close to homes and would be better placed elsewhere. The meeting takes place at 7:30 p.m. at village hall, 1400 Baldwin Road.
Bartlett flood study unveiled
The results of a study of Bartlett's stormwater system - commissioned by the village following significant flooding in town last September - are to be released at the village board meeting this evening. The outside engineering study is expected to shed light on some of the reasons for the flooding and offer possible solutions for the future. The meetings begins at 7 p.m. at village hall, 228 S. Main St.
Help appealing assessments
Maine Township residents have until Thursday, Jan. 29, to file an appeal to their property tax assessment to the Cook County Board of Review. Questions about tax appeals may be directed to Commissioner Brendan Houlihan's office at (312) 603-3644. The office provides materials required for filing an appeal and an extensive outreach program. Manufacturing and colleges:
Registration is still open for a conference on Monday, Jan. 26, on manufacturing and community colleges, featuring world-class educational models from around the country that are meeting the work force needs of advanced manufacturing. The conference is 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Chandler's Chophouse at Schaumburg Golf Course on Roselle Road in Schaumburg. Keynote speaker is U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean of Barrington.
