Our fault or the government's?

Hearing a car dealer radio ad selling cars "regardless of credit," then reading a business expert revealing that a major mortgage institution is still rewarding its underwriters based on the number of loans closed, makes me wonder when we're ever going to learn our lesson. Who's more at fault? Ourselves, for living beyond our means? Or our government, ever willing to "invest" our money to bail out our institutional selves? Either way, it's got to stop.
