Personnel changes at Kaneland School District

Effective July 1, Julie-Ann Fuchs will be the new assistant superintendent for business at Kaneland School District 302. She will succeed Tom Runty, who is retiring, also effective July 1.

"It definitely will be a challenge during these economic times, but I'm looking forward to the opportunity," Fuchs said.

Both Fuchs and Runty have worked in the district for 11 years.

Because Runty will be around through June, the district will have a "seamless transition," Fuchs said.

Fuchs began her career at Kaneland as a teacher. For four years, she taught part-time at the Fox Valley Career Center, Kaneland's vocational center, as well as working part-time in staff development for technology.

During the next four years, she managed career and technical education grants for all the high schools that feed into Waubonsee Community College. She worked at the college, but she remained an employee of the Kaneland School District.

Fuchs has been in her current position overseeing technology, transportation and communications for three years. She was instrumental in launching the district's electronic newsletter and the emergency phone call system.

Fuchs has masters degrees in secondary education and in education administration from Northern Illinois University. She has a bachelor's degree in international business from Illinois State University.

Runty began his career 35 years ago as a band director in Coal City, Ill. He still enjoys playing the euphonium.

"It's been a long and fruitful career and I've had a great time here," Runty said. "But it's time."

In other personnel moves effective July 1, Fran Eggleston will become Kaneland's director of special education. She is the principal at McDole Elementary School in Montgomery. Martne McCoy will succeed Eggleston as principal of McDole. She is assistant principal at McDole and at John Shields in Sugar Grove.
