Man blames medication for stabbing death

A man accused of stabbing to death his boss has testified he doesn't remember plunging a knife into the man and blamed the murder on medicines he was taking.

Tom Tuduj of Harwood Heights is charged with first-degree murder in the May 2006 death of Gary Poter.

The then 33-year-old Tuduj, an appraiser and bidder for Poter Construction and Development, allegedly struggled with Poter, then stabbed him to death after he'd been given a bad job review.

Testifying in Cook County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Tuduj said he was so heavily medicated he could barely express his emotions when Poter gave him the job review and informed him of a pay cut.

Tuduj said a doctor gave him anti-anxiety and sleep medication a week before the killing but didn't tell him mixing the drugs could be dangerous.
