Corren Schools' volleyball match all in good fun

On Dec. 9, a small band of Corron Elementary School student council members, teachers, and the principal braved the snow to travel to Ferson Creek Elementary School in St. Charles.

Their mission: To challenge the Ferson Creek staff to a volleyball match against the Corron staff. Student council members Mackenzie Maffia and Jake Spaniol took over the morning announcements.

"We think our teachers can bump, set, and spike better than Ferson Creek's teachers and we want to prove it! We challenge Ferson Creek to gather a team, practice, and come test their skills on Jan. 15!"

Not to be left out, Corron Principal Denise Liechty and Ferson Creek Principal Christopher Adkins have made a challenge themselves. The losing principal will have to wear the opposing school's spirit-wear for an entire day.

The challenge will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Haines Middle School, 305 S. Ninth St. Admission will be $1.

This competition is all in good fun. The goal is to encourage school spirit, and more importantly, to raise money for hungry children in Third World Countries. This is just one of many activities Corron has taken on in their yearlong service learning project to defeat world hunger.
