Senior housing considered
Vernon Hills trustees tonight in a special meeting are expected to choose a firm to acquire, build, develop and operate an affordable senior housing campus on village-owned property at Phillip Road and Atrium Drive. Staff is recommending Barron Development and Pathway Senior Living LLC as top choices from among six companies that responded to a village request to build up to 240 supportive living and affordable units. Both have proposed paying the village $1 million for the property. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive.
Hospital offers college scholarships
The Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital offers scholarships for students residing in the hospital service area who will attend a college or university in Illinois and pursue an education in a health-related field. Applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered and filed with the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee by April 30. Recipients will be notified by early June. District 95 raises record funds
Students, staff and families of Lake Zurich High School and District 95 raised $43,866 in this year's Charity Bash, another record for the annual fundraiser. The proceeds go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Charity Bash fun isn't over yet. Today as part of the Cosmo Girl fundraiser, Dean of Students Bryan Stortz will get his head shaved, and the other Dean of Students, Meghan Kolze, will have her hair styled into a mohawk in the high school cafeteria.

Hawthorn District 73 will hold a kindergarten parent information meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at Hawthorn Middle School North, 201 Hawthorn Parkway, Vernon Hills. Registration packets will be available at this meeting. Beginning Jan. 30, packets will be available at the district office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills and in school offices. In-person kindergarten registration will begin Feb. 9. The registration deadline is Feb. 27. Firefighter hurt:
A Lake Bluff firefighter was injured Saturday afternoon in a blaze on the 1000 block of Campbell Court, authorities said. The firefighter was hurt when the floor collapsed beneath him, according to a news release. He was transported to Lake Forest Hospital. His injuries were not life threatening, authorities said. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
