Chill out with yoga and tea

Ease into exercising in this new year by learning about gentle chair yoga. After trying some of the techniques, relax a bit more with a sampling of teas. The program is for all ages.

'Ghosts'

All the benefits of ice

Learn about all of the benefits that ice brought to farmers more than a century ago in the Ice Harvesting program at Kline Creek Farm. If weather conditions permit, farm staff members and volunteers will take to the frozen surface of Timber Lake to show guests how a checkerboard ice pattern is scored and how ice is cut into blocks with a saw. Then guests can see how the ice blocks are packed and stored for months in an icehouse.

Trying to catch a trout

The 2009 Chicago Boat, RV and Outdoors Show features hundreds of RVs, boats and marine accessories along with exhibits and educational activities. One of the highlights of this 79th annual show is the Huck Finn Trout Pond where young and old can drop their fishing lines into an indoor pool stocked with large trout. Visitors can also view the world's fastest offshore racing boat or step onboard a new hybrid pontoon boat.

'Beauty and the Beast'

See an interactive version of "Beauty and the Beast," the classic fairy tale about a hideous beast and the woman who gradually comes to fall in love with him.

Rico! rocks the evening!

The band Rico! presents a wide variety of musical styles for a patchwork of musical tastes including Afro-Cuban, soul, reggae, jazz, hip-hop, rock and blues. Band members use instruments such as congas, timbales, keyboards, guitars and drums to pound out their tunes.
