Lakes' KirkmanBey leads way

Lakes' boys basketball team continues to rebound from a slow start to the season.

Marcell KirkmanBey scored a season-high 16 points to help lead the Eagles to a 69-53 victory over visiting Wauconda in North Suburban Prairie Division action Tuesday night.

Lakes (5-8, 3-1) has won five of its last seven after starting the season 0-6.

John Androus added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the Eagles, who led 22-11 after one quarter and never looked back. They pushed their advantage past 30 points late in the third.

Mike Scott also had 13 points, as well as 3 assists. Lakes also got contributions from Justin Hotle (8 points, 7 rebounds), Tyler Swindle (7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) and Chris Boehm (5 points, 3 rebounds).

Vernon Hills 59, Elmwood Park 50: The visiting Cougars moved above the .500 mark again, winning the nonconference road game to snap a two-game losing streak.

DaVaris Daniels scored 17 points to pace Vernon Hills (7-6), while Riaz Hoveydai and Robert Bryant added 13 apiece.

McHenry 58, Grayslake N. 47: The host Knights trailed 14-7 after one quarter and never could recover.

Grant Henricksen scored 10 points and was the only player in double figures for Grayslake North (5-6).
