Environmental summit set

"Greening Our Transportation and Roads" will be the topic during the sixth annual DuPage Environmental Summit from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Krasa Center at Benedictine University, 5700 College Road, Lisle. Speakers will address topics such as "Cleaning Up Our Road Runoff," "Regional Transportation & Environment," "Green Roads" and "Alternative Fuels 101." The program is free and open to the public. Diveheart seeks volunteers

Diveheart, an organization that enables individuals with disabilities to experience scuba diving, is seeking volunteers for several events. Certified divers and instructors interested in working with children, adults and veterans with disabilities are invited to training Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's training will be at 5100 Main St., Downers Grove. Sunday's training will be at Oak Lawn Community High School, 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn. Call (630) 964-1983.

ECC class on green construction

Renewable Energy and Technology, a new spring class at Elgin Community College, will have students build their own working solar air heater. The three-credit class begins Jan. 24 and is held over a period of eight Saturdays through May 2. Classes meet from 8 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. at ECC's Industry Training Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Environmentalists sought

The Batavia Environmental Commission is looking to expand and needs new members. It meets the second Wednesday of the month. The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission is looking for sponsors for a fundraiser, "Dancing With the Geneva Stars." Six "celebrity" Geneva couples will compete Feb. 7 at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
