The girl is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, police said.
The shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of South Albany Ave.
Chicago police officer Laura Kubiak said the girl had been attending a party.
She and some friends were outside when they were approached by a man 18 to 20 years of age, who shot the victim in the abdomen with a handgun, Kubiak said.
