Pace route expands

Pace Route 554 is adding another town to its roster. The suburban bus agency on Monday will extend the route, which already links Elgin, Streamwood, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg, into Hanover Park. Timetables for Route 554 Elgin-Woodfield will be posted Monday on buses and the Pace Web site. The new service will travel along Irving Park Road in Streamwood and Hanover Park, while parts of the route along Schaumburg Road will be eliminated.

School welcomes Duckworth

Illinois Department of Veteran's Affairs' Director Tammy Duckworth will speak to more than 500 students Tuesday at MacArthur Middle School in Prospect Heights. She'll talk about the importance of community service and will present 16 students who participated in a community outreach program with special certificates for their hard work in making more than 100 quilts for the state's disabled veterans.
