Waubonsee to open downtown Aurora campus
Waubonsee Community College is expanding. The main campus is at Route 47 and Waubonsee Drive in Sugar Grove.
Construction on a new $50 million downtown Aurora site, bounded by Galena Boulevard to the north, River Street to the west, Downer Place to the south and the Fox River to the east, is slated to begin in spring 2009. This new 132,000-square campus will include 52 classrooms and will allow students to earn an associate degree entirely in downtown Aurora.
Community members will have increased access to noncredit offerings, including work force and professional development training, community education programming, adult basic education, general educational development and English as a second language.
Waubonsee has had an 80,000-square-foot campus on Stolp Island in Aurora since 1966. The college anticipates that the new campus will not only fit with the historic context of the neighborhood, but serve as the hub of a revitalized district.

Professor and author: Christina Krause of Elburn, associate professor of psychology at Aurora University, has co-authored a chapter of a book on integrated health programs and networks.
With two colleagues, Krause wrote the opening chapter for "Integrated Health Care Delivery," a volume published in December by Nova Science Publishers.
The chapter describes a multidisciplinary intervention program which was designed to address barriers and fragmentation issues in the current health care system, and to improve the health care and health of individuals who are dealing with multiple, chronic health conditions.
Crafters needed: The holidays are almost over, so let's allow ourselves to think about spring.
RMS Promotions is looking for crafters for "A Breath of Spring Arts and Crafts Faire" to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21 at the Sugar Grove Community House, 141 S. The arts and crafts show will feature 50 crafters. Each crafter must send several photos of his or her work to be juried into the show. This show is for authentic, original artist items only. Applications may be obtained at RMScraftshows.com, or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to RMS Promotions, 20 S. Hankes Road, Aurora, IL 60506.
