District 300 officials on radio show

The leaders of Community Unit District 300's technology team will be on the "People to People" program on WRMN 1410 AM at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6. Eric Willard, the district's chief technology officer, and Deb Hartman, District 300's instructional technology coordinator, will talk about the district's ongoing and future technology initiatives. Prairie Ridge senior appointed to Naval Academy

Michael Mourafetis of Crystal Lake has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Mourafetis will graduate in June 2009 from Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and was named a 2009 National Merit Commended Student. He received the Northern Illinois Hockey League Scholarship Award and was named Prairie Ridge High School Hockey Club Wolves Scholar Athlete of the Year last spring. The son of William and Jennifer Mourafetis of Crystal Lake, he also participated in the USA Judo National Championships in 2006.

Lecture on vegetarian diet

Centegra Health System is hosting a free lecture on the vegetarian diet. A registered dietitian will talk about the pros and cons of the diet and how you can stay healthy as a vegetarian. The lecture will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Health Bridge Fitness Center, located at Algonquin and Haligus roads in Huntley. Call (815) 444-2900.
