Two Carpentersville men arrested in burglary

Police have arrested two Carpentersville men on charges they stole a 50-inch plasma television and a case of Pepsi from a McHenry house.

Authorities said the men entered an unlocked house on the 2600 block of South Riverside Drive and took the items.

McHenry County Sheriff's police identified Edward T. Ranney, 26, of the 100 block of Del Rio Road as a suspect in the burglary.

When police contacted Ranney, he admitted to having the T.V. and returned it to the house. It was not clear what became of the Pepsi.

Ranney was arrested Dec. 25, and Anthony P. Brady, 21, also of the 100 block of Del Rio Road, turned himself in on Dec. 26.

Ranney and Brady were charged with residential burglary and theft of an item worth more than $300, both felonies.

Ranney and Brady are being held at the McHenry County jail. Ranney will have to post $9,000, and Brady will have to post $8,000 to get out.

Brady was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, while Ranney was assigned a Jan. 5 court date.
