Rev. Warren good for inauguration
Kudos to President-Elect Barack Obama on his choice of Rev. Rick Warren to speak at his inauguration. Rather than hearing other voices of praise or agreement on his choice, the press has so far come out with the angry sentiments of the gay and GLBT community. So, to be clear, Obama has the right to not support the constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, should be supporting all of the gay communities' activities, but does not have the right to choose a person of character that will speak, and maybe, gasp, pray, at his inauguration? Pastor Warren of Saddleback Church, has become well known for not only his transforming books ("The Purpose Filled Life"), but for the God-given abilities to reach out to many segments of the world population and its leaders, including those trying to combat AIDS. It is never going to be popular to stand up for one's beliefs as a Christian, but freedom of religion is also a right. I, for one, am happy for his choice. With all of the major problems facing the U.S. and world, we need to join together in praying for and supporting our incoming president and his leaders, not looking to pick fights and tear him down.
