Girls basektball tourney at Kaneland High School this weekend
The Kaneland High School Silver Stars girls basketball program will host a holiday tournament for girls in fifth through eighth grade Saturday and Sunday at Kaneland High School, Meredith and Keslinger roads in Maple Park.
Established as a feeder program three years ago, it is the first time that the Silver Stars girls basketball travel program will host a tournament.
"We're hoping to make a big difference for Kaneland High School girls basketball," said Kathy Huml of Elburn, who served on the board of the Silver Stars. "The girls have gotten so much better by playing other girls from all over the area."
Huml said that four teams of fifth and sixth graders and eight teams of seventh and eighth graders will compete in the tournament.
Admission is $3, children younger than 12 are admitted free.
