Governor should step down

In the second paragraph of his Web site bio, Gov. Rod Blagojevich states that among other things he is "... working aggressively to... restore the people's confidence in state government." I'm all for believing in "innocent until proven guilty." I'm also a strong believer in "where there's smoke, there's fire." Governor, you have failed in your mission. It's no secret that there has been a smoky haze surrounding Blagojevich for many years and it's likely that he'll get burned during the upcoming trial. The unfortunate thing in this is that he has represented the people of Illinois for almost six years and by association, he's dragging us into the inferno as well. While I don't claim to speak for anyone but myself, if I had the money that Congress is considering sending to the "Big Three," I would bet that the vast majority of people in Illinois are tired of the representation provided by the current administration. We want to be proud of our representatives. We truly want them to be an extension of ourselves. How long has it been since any of us have truly felt that? Another saying in which I believe: "'Tis better to give than to receive." So, Governor, a bit of advice - give a gift to the people of Illinois and step down. Whether it's to allow you time to prepare your defense or whether you have finally received that wake up call that's been so long overdue, do the right thing and resign now before it gets ugly for all of us. And another thing, Senator Dick Durbin, please retract your letter to the president regarding pardoning our last governor. While it's a pity that he and his family have suffered, he broke the law and has to pay the price. We certainly have and will again.
