Deonte shouldn't have been expelled

After reading "One of the families in U-46 lawsuit to sue over expulsion" in your newspaper, I strongly side with the decision Deonte's parents made. Deonte, a student at Larkin High School, is a senior this year and was expelled for verbally assaulting a math teacher. His parents filed a lawsuit to sue the school district for their son's expulsion.

Deonte was informed he'd been expelled from the high school for one year but also had the option of attending an alternative program. He was also told he could no longer play for the varsity basketball team. He's a student with 31 credits and on track to graduate with a clean disciplinary record.

I feel this punishment is unjust for Deonte. Expulsion is too extreme for what he did. His last year of high school should be one of the best years of his life and he should be allowed to enjoy it. He should be punished but he doesn't deserve to be expelled.
