MCC to host People in Need Forum
The sixth annual People in Need Forum will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at McHenry County College conference center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
Sponsored by MCC's Center for Non-Profit Leadership, this free forum is ideal for volunteers, human service organizations, churches, civic group members or anyone interested in resources available to help people in need.
In addition to an expo featuring more than 20 human services organizations, the forum will showcase helping services through general sessions, a panel discussion, and workshops.
Eleven different workshop topics include health care services for the underinsured, housing and energy assistance, how to help people that need medication, townships and general emergency assistance, and issues of homelessness.
Representatives from the McHenry County Crisis Line will conduct a panel discussion titled, "Who Do You Call at 2 a. m.?"
Supporting organizations for the forum include McHenry County Department of Health, McHenry County PADS, McHenry County College, Resurrection Church and United Way McHenry County Volunteer Center.
Participants also will have an opportunity to network, ask questions and update their resource directories.
Admission is free, but preregistration is requested. To reserve a seat and receive a resource booklet, call Connee Meschini at (815) 479-7590 or register online at peopleinneedforum.org.
