Foul play suspected in Mount Prospect death
A 76-year-old Mount Prospect woman was found dead in her home Thursday, the victim of an apparent homicide, police said.
A relative is in custody after police found the body of Mary Castronovo in the basement of her home on Debbie Drive in Mount Prospect.
Police responded to a 911 call late Thursday morning. The call came from a family member who wanted the police to check on the welfare of their mother. When police searched the house they found the body of Mary Castronovo in a utility room in the basement. They said she appeared to have been dead for some time.
The Cook County state's attorney's office and the Mount Prospect Police Department are investigating along with the Major Case Assistance Team.
