Mount Prospect trustee back on village board after illness
Mount Prospect Trustee Paul Hoefert, who was rushed to a hospital last week, is recovering and will be back on the board next month, village officials said.
Village Manager Mike Janonis said Hoefert expects to be at the next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at village hall, 50 S. Emerson St. Hoefert, who's in his early 50s, was taken to the Northwest Community Hospital Saturday evening, Dec. 6.
Although Hoefert was absent from this week's board meeting, he was still able to look at the village's property tax levy, which the board recently voted on, Janonis said.
Hoefert praised the village's ability to not increase property taxes for residents, but added the village had to remain vigilant in these hard economic times, Janonis said.
Village officials said they would not release information about his medical condition, in keeping with the wishes of his family.
Mount Prospect Mayor Irvana Wilks said she'd seen Hoefert at the village's Winter Parade Dec. 6. She said he was on one of the floats that evening and seemed fine.
Hoefert, who is married with two children, has served on the board since 1991. He also serves on the board of the Mount Prospect Historical Society. He's a senior vice president with Northern Trust in Chicago.
