Freemason donations help military make calls
Area Freemasons recently presented a check for $1,500 to the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church. The funds presented by Bro. Jonathan Horvath of Nunda Lodge in Crystal Lake were raised by McHenry County Freemasons to purchase calling cards for the soldiers and families of the Illinois Army National Guard Company D, 1-178th Infantry who were recently deployed to Afghanistan. The Masons hope the cards will help bridge the gap between the soldiers and their families.
Many distinguished soldiers have also been Freemasons including George Washington, John Paul Jones, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Douglas MacArthur, Norman Schwartzkopf and many others. The Freemasons of Nunda Lodge have been a part of Crystal Lake and the surrounding community since 1855. Its primary aim is to make good men better through service to the community and our fellow man.
