Holidays by candlelight

Celebrate the holiday season and learn about local history at the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve's "Durant House Museum: Candlelight Open House" program. Costumed docents will welcome guests to the candle-lit prairie homestead, adorned with authentic period decor from the 1840s. Warm your hands by a roaring fire and see an old-fashioned Christmas tree. The event also features live music, dramatic performances, hot cider and baked treats.

Buy some treats for your bearded dragon

The Lake County Reptile Show features snakes, bearded dragons, geckos and other reptiles for viewing and for purchase. Visitors can also buy food and other supplies to care for their critters.
