Streamwood's Rosner to take place in hall of fame

Streamwood girls basketball coach George Rosner admits to being surprised at the honor, but also is most appreciative.

Rosner learned recently he will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a career coach.

The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 25 at the Illinois State University Student Center in Normal.

"It was a real surprise," said Rosner of the recognition. "Somebody congratulated me in an e-mail before I got my letter and I was quite surprised. It's a nice honor, especially with the lack of success we've had here at Streamwood in terms of wins and losses. It's nice to be honored and I do appreciate it."

Rosner, who also coached four years at Palatine but has spent the majority of his career at Streamwood, said he's been an IBCA member for roughly 35 years, dating back to when he started coaching at St. Monica Elementary School in Chicago. This is his 37th season coaching basketball.

"This is really a tribute and testament to all the wonderful assistant coaches and players I've had all these years," said Rosner, who has 307 career wins.
