Warrenville man arrested on charges of stabbing acquaintance
A 22-year-old Warrenville man was arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred early Thursday morning in Warrenville, police said.
Jefferey T. Grimes, of 28 west 500 block of Main Street, has been charged with one count of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of reckless conduct. His bond was set at $100,000 during a hearing Friday morning, Dec. 12. He was being held at the DuPage County jail, authorities said.
Police reports said officers were dispatched to Grimes' address and discovered a semiconscious, male adult victim, who appeared to have sustained stab wounds as well as head and facial trauma.
Warrenville Fire Protection District paramedics transported the victim to Edward Hospital in Naperville for treatment. The man, who was admitted to the hospital, is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.
Grimes told police the victim inflicted the wounds upon himself and wanted to commit suicide, according to reports. But police detectives found sources who indicated that Grimes attacked the victim after they argued, reports said.
