Bears put CB Vasher on IR, activate FB Davis
As anticipated, the Bears placed cornerback Nate Vasher on injured reserve Saturday.
Vasher suffered a fractured right hand and reinjured his right thumb last week in the second half against the Rams. He missed three games in October when he first injured the thumb-wrist area and had surgery during which pins were inserted to facilitate healing. Vasher missed 12 games last season with a groin injury.
Corey Graham will start in his place Sunday night against the Vikings.
The Bears also elevated fullback Jason Davis from the practice squad to the active roster because of the quadriceps injury suffered by starting fullback Jason McKie during Friday's practice. McKie, who was the only fullback on the active roster, is questionable.
Davis entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2006 with the Eagles. The former Fighting Illini spent the 2006 season on injured reserve. He spent 2007 on the Eagles' practice squad.
After being cut by Philadelphia at the end of the 2008 preseason, Davis signed with the Bears' practice squad Sept. 1. He was signed to Oakland's active-roster Oct. 28 before being waived by the Raiders last week. He appeared in one game with the Raiders while being inactive for two others.
Davis will wear No. 43 for the Bears.
