Briefs: Batavia drug charges
Bail was set Tuesday at $100,000 for a St. Charles man accused of possessing cocaine and LSD. Patrick W. Peterson, 19, of 1336 Adams Court, is charged with possessing between 15 and 100 grams of cocaine and manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, court records show. Peterson, who's due in court Dec. 15, was arrested by Batavia police and charged Tuesday. Court records state the offense took place Oct. 6. Batavia police did not return calls seeking further information.
Clerk's holiday hours
The Kane County Clerk's vital records division is changing its hours this week. The office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, and closed Thursday and Friday. Regular hours resume Monday. Call (630) 232-5950.
West Chicago police award
The West Chicago Police Department earned recognition from the National Association of Town Watch for its participation in the 19th annual National Night Out in August. West Chicago placed 15th out of the 15,449 communities that were involved in the category for cities with populations of 15,000 to 49,999.
Diversity business fair
The Quad County African-American Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its 2008 Diversity Business Fair from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at Hollywood Casino, 49 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora. Featuring an exhibit and trade show area, the goal is to provide businesses owned by women and minorities with an opportunity to showcase their products and services to purchasing agents from area casinos, businesses, business resource organizations and other minority business owners in the Chicago metro area. Calling all crafters

The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission is looking for sponsors for a fundraiser, "Dancing With the Geneva Stars." Six "celebrity" Geneva couples will compete Feb. 7 at the Eagle Brook Country Club.
