Santa Claus comes to Barrington
Santa Claus is coming to town, Barrington, that is. Santa will make a visit Thanksgiving weekend to the Santa House at the Foundry, 724 W. Northwest Highway, from noon-2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28; Saturday, Nov. 29; and Sunday, Nov. 30.
The Santa House will then move from the Foundry to the corner of Hough and Main streets on Dec. 6. Santa will receive visitors there from noon-2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 21. Stop by for a visit.
Make a gingerbread house at the library
Chef Rose Deneen will demonstrate of how to decorate an edible gingerbread house in two separate presentations on Friday, Nov. 28.
Children ages 6-14 may attend the Gingerbread House program from 11 a.m. to noon or from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Youth Services classroom of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road. With the help of a parent, each child will decorate a graham cracker house with icing, sprinkles, candy and other treats.
Older or younger siblings will not be allowed to participate. Open only to Schaumburg library cardholders; fee is $10 due at registration. (847) 923-3439.
Hanover Township to honor volunteers
Hanover Township is accepting applications for the clerk's annual community service awards program. The five award categories are: adult, youth and senior volunteer; clerk's choice; and business community service award. Applications are available at the township offices, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett, or online at hanover-township.org.
