Hoffman police: Man stole IDs to buy, sell cars
A 29-year-old man employed at a Hoffman Estates dealership faces identity theft charges after police say he used a customer's information to buy a car for a friend.
Luis A. Corona, of 936 Westwood Drive in Schaumburg, appeared in bond court Thursday after he was charged with two felony counts of identity theft, Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Gregory Poulos said. Corona was arrested Monday.
Corona used the stolen information to buy the car at another dealership, Poulos said. He also used another customer's information to sell a car when one of his customers didn't qualify to make a purchase, Poulos added.
The dealership where Corona worked is Saturn of Schaumburg in Hoffman Estates. His bond was set at $40,000.
A man saying he was the manager at the dealership declined to comment Thursday night.
