Give to needy children

It's not a fire today in Hoffman

Don't be alarmed if you see smoke this morning around Poplar Creek Prairie in Hoffman Estates. The Forest Preserve District of Cook County and Chicago Wilderness will conduct a controlled burn at 10:30 a.m. today at the preserve off Shoe Factory Road. The burns help release nutrients from burned plant materials, help seeds grow and open the woodland floor for sunlight. There could be 20 to 40 burns each season, depending on the climate.
