A candidate with vision, work ethic
It would be hard to have lived in our community for very long and not heard the name Tony Reyes or read it in a local newspaper. Tony has been involved in so many aspects of our community; even those who know him well may not realize the extent of his service. I've known Tony for the better part of 45 years, and I'd like to tell you about the Tony I know.
In the 1960s Tony may have cut your grass, shoveled the snow off your driveway, delivered your newspaper or sold you popcorn from the Boy Scouts. In the 1970s Tony probably filled you car with gas at my Enco station at Winfield and Highlake roads. Perhaps you saw Tony at one of the more than 500 school board meetings or six graduation ceremonies he presided over in School Districts 34 and 94. Maybe your child played in one of the recreational soccer, baseball or Hot Shoots basketball games he coached over 12 years for Winfield in Action. Tony could have washed your car in the 1980s as president of the Jaycees to help send physically disabled kids to summer camp. Maybe you saw him standing in the intersection collecting nickels and dimes in the 1990s for the Lions programs. Perhaps you sat through one of the more than 75 keynote public speeches Tony has given in the past 15 years on business, public education, team building and diversity.
The next four years in Winfield will be tough, due in part to the missteps of the current board and in part due to the state of the economy. Tony has a proven track record of creating vision, living with a balanced budget, bringing people together and creatively finding ways to get things done though planning and hard work. Please join me in supporting Tony for village president on April 7.
