Jazz great to perform with WCC band

The Waubonsee Community College Jazz Band will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in the auditorium of the college's Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. No advance tickets are required.

The concert will feature guest artist Russ Phillips on the trombone. Phillips has performed many types of music all over the world, with a special emphasis on traditional jazz, which he has performed for the past six decades. Phillips received a 2004 Honoree Award from the Del Segno Musicians Association of Chicago for his contribution to the Chicago music scene, especially as the "keeper of the flame" in traditional jazz.
