Thanks for your votes on Nov. 4

I would like to thank those DuPage County voters (168,877 individuals) who exercised their Constitutional rights this past Nov. 4 by voting for me. Although I did not win, my appreciation is heartfelt. I had no idea that so many people would cast their ballot for this first-time politician.

Also, I would like to thank my supporters and other Democratic candidates who invested their time, money and counsel. My special thanks extend to my "informal" committee - Louis, Karol, Kim, and Greg. The DuPage Democratic Chairman, Bob Peickert, deserves mention for his vision and encouragement along with Amy Tauschman, the Deputy Director/Township Chairwoman of Milton, for her energy, organizational abilities and leadership. Another special thanks goes out to the other seven township chairmen and their key people who assisted me immeasurably when I visited their monthly township meetings during my seven-month campaign.

This election is a start in DuPage County with three Democrats elected to the county board. Hopefully, they won't be isolated by the current powers, but accepted as equals with their opinions and viewpoints. I know for a fact that all three Democrats have no personal agendas and are only concerned about the future of "our" DuPage County. So, good luck and good service.

I look forward to helping the DuPage Democratic Party make further gains in coming elections and as a precinct committeeman in Downers Grove.

David Meek

Democratic candidate for DuPage County Recorder
