Fire hits Naperville home

Fire broke out at a Naperville home Friday morning causing extensive damage but no injuries, authorities said.

Naperville firefighters were called to 2411 Stoneleigh Court on the city's south side at 7:12 a.m. and found fire coming from the basement as well as heavy smoke on the first and second floors.

Occupants of the home and one pet already had escaped safely.

Acting Fire Chief Mike Zywanski said the fire appears to have started in a media room in the basement but firefighters are still investigating the cause.

It was extinguished within 15 minutes though firefighters remained on the scene for nearly two hours making sure it did not spread and performing salvage operations.

The house has been deemed uninhabitable and damages are estimated around $200,000.
