MCCD to hold storytelling event
Families, couples, seniors, can gather around from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, for the first joint Tellebration Celebration hosted by McHenry County Conservation District and McHenry County Storytelling Guild Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake.
Tellebration is a worldwide evening where a network of storytelling enthusiasts come together to celebrate their talents and tales.
"An event like this is fun and you get to be a part of the traditional, cultural sharing of ourselves," said Andy Tally, MCCD educator and storyteller. "It is easy to enjoy a good story told well."
Storytelling is an art form that can be appreciated by everyone; you don't need any specialized training or advanced learning. The tellers capture imagination through stories of Nature, of Folklore or with Tall Tales to satisfy all ages.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Tellebration. Simultaneous events are held at the same time over the same weekend, traditionally on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Preregistration is required; the event is free.
