Arlington Heights
• A Naperville man was arrested after police found him driving on the Union Pacific railroad tracks around 2:45 a.m. Nov. 1. Daniel A. Leblanc Jr., 39, 1507 Georgia Court, Naperville, was charged with driving under the influence and traffic violations, after he turned left onto the tracks from northbound Wilke Road and drove down the tracks until his 2003 Honda Element got stuck. He was still in the car when officers arrived; police speculate he thought he was on Northwest Highway. His court date is Nov. 24.
• A woman took $100 from a man on the 2700 block of North Buffalo Grove Road around 9 p.m. Nov. 2. Police say he contacted a massage service on the Craigslist Internet site, but she refused to tell him about the massage until he handed over the $100; then she accused him of soliciting sex and left in a Hummer with Texas plates.
• A vandal hurled a chunk of asphalt through the rear hatch window on a 2001 Subaru Outback on the 1100 block of North Yale Avenue overnight Nov. 2-3. A damage estimate was not available.
• Burglars forced open a basement window at a home on the 1500 block of West Roanoke Drive 4-6 p.m. Nov. 4 and stole an unknown amount of gold jewelry and watches.
• Burglars forced open a sliding window at a home on the 2500 block of North Raleigh Street 7:30 a.m.-6:45 p.m. Nov. 4 and stole an unknown amount of money and jewelry.
• Two male vandals set the tips of three small evergreen trees on fire around 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in Frontier Park, 1933 N. Kennicott. A witness saw them running away. Firefighters put out the fire; a damage estimate was not available.
• Burglars broke into a 2007 Jeep Cherokee parked at a fitness center on the 300 block of East Golf Road, 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Nov. 2; a $200 radar detector was stolen.
• Vandals pushed over a lamp post at a home on the 400 block of South Phelps Avenue between 10 p.m. Nov. 1 and 1 a.m. Nov. 2. Damage was estimated at $500.
• Burglars broke into a 1999 Toyota 4Runner in an apartment lot on the 400 block of West Rand Road between 8 p.m. Nov. 1 and noon Nov. 2; a GPS was stolen. Total loss was estimated at $700.
Buffalo Grove
• Thieves stole two computer CPUs valued at $676 out of a locked room at Allstate Insurance, 2100 Lake-Cook Road, between Oct. 27 and Nov. 7.
Des Plaines
• Burglars stole $1,600 out of an apartment on the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue Nov. 4-6; there was no sign of forced entry.
• The rear window was smashed on a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck in the city's public garage, 1444 Prairie Ave., 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Nov. 6; damage was estimated at $200.
• A woman was seen putting a long scratch on a 2008 Honda Accord in a business lot at 3166 S. River Road 12:45-12:50 p.m. Nov. 6; damage was estimated at $200.
• A vandal hurled a rock through a bay door window at a business at 1340 S. Lee St. between 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and 7:40 a.m. Nov. 6; damage was estimated at $200.
Mount Prospect
• An alert cashier at West Suburban Currency Exchange, 905 E. Rand Road, interrupted a possible fraud around 10:50 a.m. Oct. 30 when a 76-year-old Mount Prospect man tried to send $1,995 through Western Union to pay freight charges, as instructed by a man who called the victim on his cell phone. The scammer told the man a delivery driver would bring him $850,000. after the wire transfer was received. The cashier called police, and an officer talked the man into reconsidering.
• Anton Georgiev Milenkov, 36, 1256 Inverrary Lane, Palatine, was arrested around 8:25 p.m. Oct. 31 and charged with theft and fraud after an investigation into a fraudulent purchase of a 2007 Audi Q7 from the Autobarn, 333 W. Rand Road, on June 7. The car, worth $51,903, was recovered. His court date is Nov. 18.
• Roderick A. Dunwell, 19, 718 E. Golf Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 12:35 p.m. Nov. 5 at Grove Street and Tamarack Drive, accused of stealing a $55 bottle of vodka from Gold Eagle Liquors, 1721 W. Golf Road. His court date is Dec. 17.
• Burglars broke into a 2006 Hyundai sedan on the 1700 block of North Burning Bush Lane between 4 p.m. Oct. 29 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 30; a power saw was stolen. Total loss was estimated at $850.
Rolling Meadows
• Burglars tried but failed to open a trailer at Arlington Court and Northampton Drive between 11 a.m. Nov. 1 and 8 a.m. Nov. 2, but damaged the locks and hinges; damage was estimated at $100.
• Burglars forced open the rear door at Sabatello Tree Care, 3833 Industrial Ave., between 4:30 p.m. Nov. 3 and 7:13 a.m. Nov. 4 and stole five chain saws and two leaf blowers. Total loss was estimated at $2,160.
Wheeling
• Thieves stole an MP3 player and digital camera out of an unlocked locker in a girls' pool locker room at Wheeling High School, 900 S. Elmhurst Road, 9:58-10:43 a.m. Oct. 16. Loss was estimated at $550.
• Burglars broke into a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse on the 500 block of McHenry Road Nov. 5-6 and stole a radar detector. Total loss was estimated at $250.
• Burglars broke into a 2001 Toyota GT and a 2004 BMW between midnight and 7 a.m. Nov. 6 in an apartment lot on the 400 block of Plum Creek Drive. Fifty CDs and an in-dash stereo were stolen out of the Toyota; nothing appeared missing out of the BMW. Total value was estimated at $300.
