Forsell wins St. Charles contest

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership and the merchants of Main Street have announced the grand prize winner of "Make Tracks to Main Street."

Dave Forsell of St. Charles won $1,000 diamond earrings from Doc Morgan, a night's stay at Hotel Baker, chocolates from KnightsCourt, flowers from Amlings Flowerland, and wine from La ZaZa Trattoria.

"Make Tracks to Main Street" is the follow-up promotion to the very successful "Make Tracks to 1st Street," which had approximately 5,000 entrants.

Other recently announced winners in the "Make Tracks to Main Street" promotion were Julie Griffith of St. Charles, Pritesh Patel of West Chicago, and Scott Pohl, of West Chicago. Each won prizes from St. Charles' Main Street merchants. Griffith won the "Kids and Their Pets" package, with prizes from The PrivateBank, Lucky Dog, Eliza Jane, Men's Groom Room, and Kumon Learning Center. Patel won High Tea for 8 people at KnightsCourt. Pohl won dinner for four at ZaZa Trattoria and four tickets to the "3 Faces of Elvis" concert in October.

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership originally worked with the merchants of 1st Street to put the "Make Tracks to 1st Street" prize drawing together, to encourage customers to come into the area affected by the construction resulting from the First Street Redevelopment Project. As construction moved toward Main Street, "Make Tracks to Main Street" was created.

Fifteen businesses participated in "Make Tracks to Main Street," including Amling's Flowerland, Arcada Theatre/Onesti Entertainment, Doc Morgan, Eliza Jane, Hotel Baker, KnightsCourt, Kumon Learning Center, Lucky Dog, Men's Groom Room, Miguel's on the Fox, Mystique Salon & Spa, The PrivateBank, Steel Beam Theatre, Szechwan Restaurant, and La ZaZa Trattoria.

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership's mission is to "enhance the economic viability and to preserve the character and beauty of downtown St. Charles." In addition to business recruitment, business assistance, and downtown preservation, the downtown partnership produces the Holiday Homecoming and Electric Christmas Parade, Sisters Weekend, the St. Charles Fine Art Show and, in conjunction with the Park District, Sculpture in the Park and Concerts in the Park, among other events.
